Can anyone help me with a VIN?
« on: June 24, 2016, 02:14:05 AM »
Hey so can someone tell me where I might find the stamped vin on my 2001 DS .... I have looked over every bit of metal on my quad and can't find one and to get one stamped again is $460.00 so if anyone has a parts quad that will never use the frame I would buy the vin# ... I want to ride but to ride here you have to have registration or they will impound your atv

It's under the air box I believe. If you look from just the right angle you can see it. Right under where the sub frame bolts on I think

Well if you've looked real good and it's really not there then someone has bought a new frame after crashing it and they did not get the vin stamped in that one. You can either buy a wrecked one with a good title and destroy the wrecked frame and use those numbers, or do nothing. If a ranger stops you and wants to check your Vin there will be nothing to check. Which could be bad depending on where you live :P

Which state do you live in?

Its been awhile and my DS is down in the lower 48 but i believe its on the plate under the seat, its a faint (laser etched) number in a fairly large font  (inch tall) post of picture of the area and ill try and show you where it is, you might have to clean off any dirt/corrosion to see it
All actions come with an equal and opposite reaction, and sometimes a scar.

mine was under the seat stamped on the flat frame guesset with a prick punch you may have to sand the paint off with sand paper to see it do not use a grinder if it has been powder coated or painted you will not see it
