lost spark on left
« on: May 12, 2016, 08:05:22 AM »
Looking for some advice here. I just lost spark on my left (inside) cylinder. I still have pretty good spark on the other one so I am not sure what would cause that. I just replaced the rectifier because I was having trouble with it. It would cut out and wouldn't idle. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Guess I should give the specifics of the machine. It is a 2000 DS650 with no major mods. It has the stock (I assume) CDI box on it. I think it is called a Densi or something like that. Thanks again for the help!

Hello,
It seems like you're thinking the DS is 2 cylinder. It's a single cylinder engine :P
The stock cdi should be a Nippon denso I believe.

It sounds like one ignition coil is bad. They're situated just behind the steering stem

Just posting as a tip for anyone else who has had this happen as one other thing to check.
I've had this happen to a '00 before. There is a wire that connects to the rectifier. It is one of those flat male and female connectors. They came apart and therefore I lost spark on one of the plugs. Can be a simple fix, just plug it back together.

swap the coil and try it out before buying. make sure it is the failure point. clean your ground wires up*
