Feel like a moron
« on: January 14, 2014, 01:59:00 PM »
Planned to go riding last Sat , just me and my son.  Turned into 6 of us going.  Most of them kids with a death wish....
I'm leading a trail, rookie kid behind me.  I loose them at one point, so I turn around to go find them.  Come around a corner to find a quad being uprighted and a kid holding his arm in pain... Uggh.  I jump off the quad and make sure everyone/everything is ok.  Get everything calmed down and ready to head out again, and my DS won't start. I end up checking fuel, spark plugs, pull the cover and check the coil.  nuthin.  no spark.  Have my kid ride 7 miles back to my truck to get a tow strap.  I make my unexperineced wife ride the DS while I am towing with a utility quad.  Rough ride, ate up our whole afternoon, and everyone was sunburned and tired.  Get back home, go to take a shower and I see the cord from my kill switch hanging from my belt!!!!>>>!!!! AGGGHHHHHHHGGGGHHHHGGGHGHHH.

At least I don't have to buy any new parts....

when i was building my DS i trouble shot the electrical system for 2 hours before i discovered the key was off, then the next day another 2 hours before i realized i had the kill switch on

after that it worked great, spent about a half hour wondering why it was backfireing and cracking and not idling before i realized the gas was off and it was leaning off the gas in the carb bowl
All actions come with an equal and opposite reaction, and sometimes a scar.

I once spent at least a half hour trying to start my 87 Yamaha warrior after I had rebuilt the carb. Just kept yanking on the pull cord as hard as I could wondering why it won't start. Turned out I didn't have the idle screw turned in far enough. Turned it in a few turns and it fired right up
